Life As I Know It Has Been Interrupted

This was actually written last night and before I could post it the unthinkable happened...

My cable went out. That meant no tv and no internet. Man! I forget how much I rely on the internet! I was wondering how to spell the phrase “a-comin’” and was going to look it up and I couldn't because the internet was broken at my house. I don’t know where I was going to look it up exactly. Hillbillygrammar.com, maybe. I felt so useless! I kept refreshing my browser to see if it was back up yet. I had all these blogs to comment on since I haven’t since last Thursday, and duh-duh-DUH! I couldn't.

Obviously, life as I know it has been restored because my cable is back up this morning. Yea!!

Stupid Murphy's Law...Still no sign of my Form 1098, but I discovered these nifty things called the Internet and webpages, and all I had to do is go out on this Internet, to my mortgage company’s website and print a new Form 1098 from there! This new technology is the best! Best of all: taxes filed, refunds on the way! You know I’m going to find the original tomorrow because I’m not looking for it anymore, right? It’s just suddenly going to appear, as if out of thin air.

JoBros...I asked my 5 year-old niece Alex if she thought the Jonas Brothers were cute. She asked, “Do you?” I said, “I’m asking YOU if YOU think they’re cute.” She asked, “But, do YOU think they’re cute?” So I asked her, “If I thought they were cute, would you think they’re cute?” She said, “Yes. If you think they’re cute, then I’ll think they’re cute.” Later I asked her 3 year-old sister Brianna if she thought the Jonas Brothers were cute. She yelled, “YESSSSSS!!!!!!!” Trouble’s a-comin’ for my sister in a few years.

More Lynyrd Skynyrd, really?...Did you know the most downloaded classic rock song is “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey. Of all the classic rock songs in the world…?? “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd is 2nd, and “Bohemian Rhapsody” is 3rd. I just think that list is a little bizarre. There are tons better songs! By-the-way, “Sweet Home Alabama” would be 2nd behind “Freebird” for what Lynyrd Skynyrd song to guess in a contest. And, for those of you that wondered last week, it was not me who guessed wrong. It was me, however, driving down the road and apoplectically screaming at the guy on the radio: “Freebird, you jackass! Freebird!!! Springsteen tickets on the line and you guess Gimme Three Steps? Come ON!!” He didn’t hear me, though.

Weird Things I See...I saw a really strange thing last week on the way to work. Just to set the scene: I live in a neighborhood in Charlotte about a mile off a pretty major highway. There’s not too much country anywhere near. Imagine my surprise when I came upon a place where someone had cleared trees away, not to build more new houses like is most often the case, but to install two 1800’s style buggies in what looks to be someone’s very own living history exhibition. There’s a little seating area (made of logs, of course) and a campfire ring. One morning I expect a bearded man in dungarees, plaid shirt and old boots to be sitting out there dipping a wick in cans of hot wax to make his own candles or something. It’s definitely not for public use, but I’m not sure what the purpose really is. There is one row of trees left between the clearing and the road and the funniest thing is that whoever set up all of this “planted” little plastic bouquets of flowers along the tree line. I so want to get a picture of it, but I haven’t figured out how to do it without getting hit by a car. It’s just the oddest little thing. But odd things always amuse me the most.

Ha - that place you mentioned reminds me of the two (yes, TWO) pioneer museums we had in Troy. Why we needed one, much less two, in a town as small as Troy is still beyond me. But you could go watch them churn butter and make quilts. I never did.. but I hear it's quite fascinating. Or maybe not so much?

I'm with B about the JoBro... YES! (in a mom-like, non-perverted way, of course).

And hey, maybe the dude in the dungarees could answer your hillbilly grammar questions. Just sayin'. But don't ask his wife. I have it on good authority that she runt her hup and is in a foul mood.

I hate when I loose cable or internet connection. It doesn't happen too often, but when it does, it is like I do not know what to do with my time.;))
Btw, I love "Journey". Never knew theirs was the most downloaded song, although that particular song is not my favourite. The best is "Oh Sherrie" by Steve Perry himself.;)

I'm glad your back online 'cuz this was one funny post!

I love Hillbillygrammar.com ... but I suspect the correct URL would be Hillbillygrammer.com.

So funny the interaction with the nieces. Alex sounded like she was in a Congressional hearing or something being so evasive.

And "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey? Give me a break. But wasn't that the song at the end of The Sopranos finale? Maybe that was why.
